An Indian driving licence is mandatory for driving two wheeler or four wheeler on the roads in India. If you want a permanent driving licence it has a separate process. An individual in India who wants to drive motor vehicles has to get his learners licence first. After 1 months the person has to appear for the test in front of the RTO. If you want to drive a vehicle on the public Road Indian driving licence is mandatory. You can use your driving licence as an ID card. It has 6 month validity.The applicant should submit valid documents at RTO .You can also extend your learning licence.
RTA provides a permanent driving licence after completion of learners license period. The applicant should be 18 years of age .If you fail the driving licence, you can reappear it after 7 days.

- Vehicles without gears with engine capacity up to 50cc – 16 years of age with parental consent
- Vehicle with gears – 18 years of age
- Commercial vehicles – 20 years of age

- Click on the online services.
- Click on the driving licence related services
- Select state
- Click Application status
- Enter Application number, date of birth, and captcha.
- Click on the submit button.
How to download driving license soft copy from parivahan
You can obtain a soft copy of your driving licence online.you can download it from parivahan or digilocker.
- Visit the official website of parivahan.
- Select online services
- Click on driving licence related services
- You will be redirected to a new page .
- select your state.
- Click on print driving license from driving licence section.
- Enter date of birth, application number
- Click on submit.
- You can see your driving licence on the screen. You can take a printout.
Download driving licence softcover through digilocker
- Visit official website of digilocker
- Log into your account by aadhar number, username.
- You will get an OTP.
- Enter OTP and login.
- Enter a 6 digit security pin number.
- Click on the submit button.
- Select driving licence from issued documents.
- Enter driving licence number
- Download Driving licence
How to renew driving licence online
- Select the official website of parivahan.
- Select state name.
- You can see a pop up box
- Select renewal of DL.
- Enter driving licence number.
- Enter date of birth.
- Click get details option
- You can see a form including your photo,signature,and all details.
- Select general category. Select your RTO.
- You can change addresses also.
- Tick the declaration box.
- Then click the confirm box.
- Select renewal DL from select required DL services.
- Click the proceed button.
- Enter captcha
- Submit the application.
- You will get an application reference slip.
- Upload documents
- Click proceed button
- Select and upload the scanned documents.
- Clock confirm button.
- Maximum file size 500 kb.
- After uploading documents ,upload passport size photo and signature.
- Click upload and view files.
- Save image files.
- Click the next button.
- Select fee payment
- Click the proceed button.
- Renewal fee is Rs 505.
- Select Kerala e treasury.
- Click proceed for payment.
- You can select the payment system as you wish.
- You will get a message.
- You will get a new driving licence as a post.
