Kerala bank introduced an investment scheme for children called vidyanidhi scheme. It is for children studying in 7 to 12 classes. It helps the children to save money for their educational needs.children between 12 to 16 can open a savings account for this benefit. The account holders will get an SMS alert,DD charge( up to Rs 5000 monthly and Rs 30,000annually) ,free RTGS,IMPS services, NEFT,priority for educational loan,free ATM card,mobile phone banking also. They will get direct benefit transfer on scholarships offered by central and state governments.
Parents of the child can open a special privilege account. They will get insurance coverage up to Rs 2 lakhs.
